Website: https://iee2026.uni-miskolc.hu/ The Innovation in Engineering Education 2026 (IEE2026) Conference was held on 5–6 February 2026 at the University of Miskolc in Miskolc, Hungary. IEE2026 was the second conference in the Innovation in Engineering Education series, launched in 2025 through the collaboration of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Debrecen and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Informatics at the University of Miskolc. Under the guiding theme “What shall we do with AI in Engineering Education?”, IEE2026 provided an international forum for discussing the impact of artificial intelligence and related technological developments on engineering education. The conference aimed to facilitate the exchange of research results, educational practices, and professional experience, with particular emphasis on the responsible and effective integration of AI into teaching and learning. Its scope included AI in higher engineering education, competence development for future engineers, digital and smart learning environments, AI-supported engineering problem solving, and the broader social implications of these developments. The two-day international conference brought together more than 60 educators, researchers, and professionals from Hungary and numerous countries across Europe and Asia, representing both academia and industry. The scientific programme featured four invited keynote speakers: Peter Sinčák from the Technical University of Košice, Slovakia; Sebastian Lang from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany; Isabela Drămnesc from the West University of Timișoara, Romania; and Brigitta Szilágyi from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary. Their plenary lectures addressed personal AI agents in university education, the development of an AI Engineering curriculum, AI-based robotic applications in higher education, and student readiness and supplemental learning pathways, respectively. A distinctive feature of IEE2026 was the close connection between academia and industry. Alongside the scientific sessions, representatives of industrial partners contributed presentations on current industrial perspectives related to digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the changing expectations placed on engineering graduates. This dialogue continued in the panel discussion “Bridging Engineering Futures and Industry Demands,” which focused on the relationship between engineering education, emerging technologies, and the competencies required in contemporary engineering practice. The parallel scientific sessions reflected the interdisciplinary character of the conference, bringing together educational research, technological innovation, and practical experience. The contributions explored a range of approaches to the transformation of engineering education in response to advances in artificial intelligence and digital technologies. This proceedings volume presents selected contributions from IEE2026 and provides a cross-section of the research and educational approaches discussed during the conference. We hope that these proceedings will contribute to further research, professional dialogue, and collaboration in shaping the future of engineering education. IEE 2026 Conference Committee
