Abstract

This study aims to examine the interior elements of kindergarten spaces by examining the application of child-friendly architectural principles at the Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten (TK ABA) in Banda Aceh City. The study focused on three main aspects: safety, comfort, and stimulation. The research method used was a case study of six ABA Kindergartens in Banda Aceh City, using a qualitative approach through field observations, structured and semi-structured interviews, and questionnaires. The results indicate that most kindergartens meet several child-friendly school criteria, such as the use of bright colors, good natural lighting, and table and chair layouts that encourage social interaction. Several shortcomings remain, making them less than fully safe for children. This study emphasizes the importance of comprehensively implementing child-friendly architectural principles to create a safe, comfortable learning environment that supports children’s physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
