Abstract

The study aimed to develop the Mathematics-English Matching Card in teaching grammar and analyze its effectiveness in improving students’ grammar mastery at the university level. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) approach, using define, design, develop, and disseminate model. The subjects of this study were 36 undergraduate students of English Education Department at Universitas Islam Nahdlatul Ulama Jepara. Data collection was conducted using two primary instruments: test and questionnaire. To measure the effectiveness of the developed media, a group of pretest posttest design was implemented, in which students were given a grammar test before and after the intervention. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis and statistical testing. The characteristics of students toward the matching card which can help improve grammar mastery is Mathematics-English Matching Card (MaEn Matca). MaEn Matca is a magnetic board that includes tense formulas and magnetic flashcards, enabling visual, interactive, and practical tense learning, both in class and individually. The matching card proved highly effective in enhancing University students’ grammar mastery. Further researcher could investigate the impact of the media to different learner groups and larger sample.
