Abstract

One of the obstacles face by a woman when she want to use contraception after giving birth to her baby is the husband’s concent. Postpartum contraception aims to prevent pregnancy by using contraception immideatly in ten minutes after delivery of placenta and in 42 days postpartum to manage the distance of subsequent pregnancy. This study aims to explore the husband’s support and attitude towards postpartum pregnancy in Srondol village, Semarang. This is a quantitative study using cross-sectional approach. A total of 50 participants involved in this study with most of them (78%) of them are in the age between 20-30 years old, 54% of them are senior high school graduates and all (100%) of them are working. The resulth of this study showed that 66% of respondents support postpartum contraception and 44% do not support. Additionally, this study reported that there is no significant relationship between support from husband and the success of postpartum contraception. However, the attitude of husband towards postpartum contraception has significant influence on the success of postpartum contraception. This study concluded that the positive attituted of husband is an influencing factor on postpartum contraception in Srondol village, Semarang.
