Abstract

One of the problems faced by the elderly is the occurrence of cognitive impairment. Cognitive impairment experienced in the elderly cannot be cured but can be prevented by applying modality therapy in the form of reminiscence therapy. This case study was conducted with a gerontic nursing care process approach in the form of Evidence Based Nursing Practice- based applications. Subjects in the case study amounted to three elderly people with inclusion criteria, namely elderly people aged> 60 years, female gender, medical diagnosis of dementia, and elderly people measured using Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE) assessment with impaired cognitive function, then cooperative and communicative elderly people, then the application of reminiscence therapy for 5 sessions with a duration of 15 minutes for 2 weeks. In the three subjects, moderate cognitive impairment was obtained from the MMSE assessment, then the nursing diagnosis was established, namely memory impairment, then reminiscence therapy was carried out where there was an increase after administration as seen from the results of the increased MMSE score.
