- Abstract
Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) type 2 is one of the chronic diseases whose prevalence continues to increase, both in Indonesia and the world. Effective diabetes management is essential to prevent serious complications, which often arise from the body’s inability to optimally control blood sugar levels. One of the keys to success in diabetes management is the accuracy of drug prescribing patterns. The right medication, appropriate dosage, and the right time of consumption play a very important role in controlling blood glucose levels and preventing diabetes complications. This study aims to review the relationship between the accuracy of drug prescribing patterns and HbA1c levels in type 2 DM patients in hospitals. Roemani Muhammadiyah Semarang, as well as the importance of patient understanding in undergoing drug therapy. The results of the study show that appropriate treatment and good education can improve blood sugar level control and lower the risk of complications to improve the quality of life of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Methods : This study uses observational quantitative method research with a cross sectional design. The sample used was taken with a total sampling technique of 89 respondents. Results : The results of the relationship between HbA1c levels and drug prescribing patterns obtained significant results with a p value of 0.001. It is said to be significant because the p value is less than 0.05. Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between drug prescribing patterns and HbA1c levels of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients at Roemani Muhammadiyah Hospital Semarang. This is indicated by a p-value of 0.001, which is smaller than 0.05. This study shows that rational and medically appropriate drug management is one of the factors that support patient recovery, thus supporting more effective and safe treatment management.
