Abstract

Skilled labor is a key factor in promoting the intelligent transformation of traditional manufacturing enterprises. The research on the demand for skilled labor in the process of intelligent transformation of manufacturing enterprises is mainly based on the discussion of structural changes in the demand for skilled labor at different levels. Based on the theory of Skill-biased Technical Change, the theory of task substitution and the theory of organizational change, this study built a theoretical model that integrated panel data analysis methods. At the same time, this study selected the panel data of more than 800 listed construction manufacturing-related enterprises in China’s A-shares from 2011 to 2023. It took RandD investment as an intermediary variable and government subsidies as an adjustment variable. Combined with fixed industry effects and time effects, it explored the impact of intelligent transformation of construction manufacturing enterprises on the demand for skilled labor. The research results show that: First, the intelligent transformation of construction manufacturing enterprises has significantly promoted the demand for high-skilled and medium-skilled labor, but the impact on the demand for low-skilled labor is not significant. Second, the intelligent transformation of construction manufacturing enterprises has increased the demand for high-level and medium-skilled labor by promoting the increase of RandD investment. Third, government subsidies have a positive regulating effect, which will further strengthen the promoting effect of the intelligent transformation of construction manufacturing enterprises on the demand for high-skilled and medium-skilled labor.
