Abstract

Based on panel data from Chinese A-share listed manufacturing companies from 2012 to 2022, this study empirically examines the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) levels on the technological complexity of manufacturing exports. The findings reveal a significant positive correlation between AI levels and the technological complexity of manufacturing exports, indicating a “synergistic” relationship. Artificial intelligence can indirectly enhance the technological complexity of manufacturing exports by improving resource allocation efficiency and reducing institutional transaction costs. This study effectively elucidates the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the technological complexity of manufacturing exports, providing reliable policy guidance for achieving high-quality manufacturing exports and upgrading the global value chain.
