With the advent of Bigdata, Cloud computing and AI the data processing has become even more easier and advanced. But, in the phenomenon of advanced technology, several personal information and sensitive data gets processed without the data principal’s informed consent. A client or a consumer need to be in the know of the entire detail regarding the flow of his personal data and the reason it is being processed within the industry. Otherwise, the industry is at the risk of losing the consumer’s trust and thereby the consumer itself.
Data management is one of the efficient ways in which the consumer/client’s data is received, stored and processed by the organisation in a structured and accountable manner. This ensures that the data is safe, and the consumers are rest assured that their personal data is secured from any kinds of breach, abuse or misuse. This research paper examines the importance of data management and its effectiveness in dealing with the personal data of the customers, with acumen. Laws, regulations and policies safeguard the rights of a consumer and her data, but it is the organisation’s obligation to adapt self-regulatory measures in order to hold on to the trust that their consumer’s pose upon them.
