Abstract

The phytoremediation procedure is a creative and economical way to deal with stubborn environmental pollutants. It is an efficient heavy metal removal method of soil from metal-contaminated locations. Despite not being a fundamental component or a part of the cell digestive system, lead (Pb) is a potential heavy metal that can be efficiently absorbed and collected in specific plant sections. Everybody can agree that it is a widely distributed, necessary, yet dangerous natural substance. The growth of Lycopercicum esculentum plants exposed to excessive concentrations of heavy metals, such as lead, can result in a variety of detrimental side effects, including stunted growth, chlorosis, blackening of the roots, and other noticeable side effects. Seed germination, root/shoot length, plant development, and last crop production are all hampered by Pb toxic quality. Pb disrupts the uptake of supplements through the roots, alters the penetrability of the plasma layer, and aggravates the ultrastructure of the chloroplasts, which causes changes in transpiration and breathing processes, produces reactive oxygen species (ROS), and activates a few enzymatic and non-enzymatic cancer prevention agents. Additionally, Pb alters hormonal condition, disrupts water balance and mineral supplementation, inhibits photosynthesis, and modifies layer structure and permeability.

This survey different morphological, physiological and biochemical effects of lead (Pb) toxicity on Lycopercicum esculentum plants.
