Abstract

The urgency to address environmental concerns has driven organizations to embrace proactive environmental strategies. Human Resources (HR) plays a crucial role as a strategic partner in aligning environmental goals with HR practices. This research aims to study the relationship between proactive environmental strategy (PES) and the HR business partner (HRBP) role in supporting green human resource practices within organizations. It also aims to study the moderating effect of industry on the hypothesized relationships. Data was collected from 339 employees from selected organizations. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) AMOS software is used to test the hypotheses. It was found that proactive environmental strategy and the role of HR as a strategic business partner facilitate the adoption of green practices in the organizations. Industry was not found to moderate these relationships. The study highlights the significance of integrating an environment perspective in organizational strategy and for incorporating environmental sustainability into HR functions.
