- Abstract
This paper explores the persistence of Project Managers within Scrum Teams, a topic that challenges the conventional roles defined in the Scrum Framework. Using survey data from 584 Scrum professionals across Southeast Asia and Oceania, the research examines the conditions under which Project Managers are present and their impact on perceived project success. The findings reveal that distributed teams and projects with extended durations benefit significantly from the presence of a Project Manager, particularly in areas like risk management and stakeholder communication. However, overlapping responsibilities often lead to role ambiguity, necessitating clearer role definitions. This study contributes to Agile project management literature by providing regional insights and practical recommendations for optimizing hybrid team structures.
