Abstract

Sanxingdui jade artifacts are a crucial testament to the pluralistic unity of Chinese civilization, offering pivotal empirical evidence for exploring the ancient views on natural aesthetics and philosophical thinking. This paper employs the ancient Chinese concept of “Tao-Qi” as a theoretical framework to examine the aesthetic essence of Sanxingdui jade and its profound connection to the “Tao of Nature” from an interdisciplinary and multi-dimensional perspective. Through the practice of “unity of Tao and Qi,” Sanxingdui jade transforms natural laws into aesthetic forms, serving both as a material expression of the ancient Chinese philosophy of “Tao follows nature” and as key evidence for reconstructing the early aesthetic thought lineage, providing significant insights into the formation and dissemination of early Chinese aesthetic concepts.
