- Abstract
Greece, as the birthplace of Western civilisation, and China, as the cradle of Eastern culture, have their own unique and romantic creation myths. In these creation myths, there are many similar motifs, which show the collective consciousness of human community and the cultural psychology of different cultures. This paper mainly discusses the four motifs of “Chaos”, “Cosmic Egg”, “Incarnation” and “Creation of Man from Clay”. It compares and analyses the mythological episodes and the concepts reflected under these motifs in Ancient Greece and China.
