- Abstract
This research deals with conformity behavior reflected in the music preferences of middle school students under the influence of peers. By exploring the correlation between music preferences and peer relationships and of the influences of peers and peer groups on adolescents, I found that adolescents in middle schools tend to change their music preferences to be in accordance with the preferences of the majority. As a result of my research, I propose advice in three aspects: building up a dialogue model, establishing diverse music groups, and providing the option and freedom to music teachers to reduce students’ conformity behavior in Beijing middle schools.
