Abstract

Home stays have gained immense popularity as a lodging option among Indian tourists in recent years. Tourism is a significant contributor to economic development and cultural exchange worldwide and home stays have emerged as a distinctive and sustainable accommodation option. This study investigates the home stay preferences of Indian tourists with a particular focus on the majestic state of Uttarakhand in northern India. The primary objective of this research is to understand the key factors influencing the preferences of Indian tourists when choosing home stay accommodations in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand, known for its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage has witnessed a growing trend in the popularity of home stays among tourists seeking authentic and immersive experiences. This paper aims to investigate the preferences of Indian travellers when choosing home stays focusing on the beautiful state of Uttarakhand. Utilizing data from the previous year, this study analyzes various factors influencing the choice of home stays, such as location, amenities and cultural experiences. The findings offer valuable insights for both home stay owners and tourism authorities to enhance the home stay experience in Uttarakhand and similar destinations.

The findings of this study reveal several significant factors that shape Indian tourists home stay choices including location, pricing, amenities and cultural immersion and sustainability practices. It also explores the challenges and opportunities faced by home stay operators in Uttarakhand offering valuable insights for both policymakers and entrepreneurs in the tourism industry.
