Abstract

Science learning for Junior High School emancipated Curriculum, it is necessary to develop electronic modules (e-modules) to enhance students’ critical thinking skills. E-modules that will be developed by research assisted by Book Creators Where the modules not only contain text and image information, but there are additions of audio texts, video links to materials and practice questions that are developed into teaching materials that are more interactive and attract students’ attention. This study was made with the objectives of 1) Identifying learning materials that need to be developed by researchers for learning 2) Describing and explaining the preliminary studies for design of e-modules assisted by Book Creator Material and Changes in the emancipated Curriculum of middle schools. This study use a qualitative method. The data analyze uses questionnaires for students that are shared in Google Form links as well as teachers who are distributed directly, observation sheets and teacher interviews. The results of the questionnaire, the researcher concluded; 1) The e-module assisted by Book creator is very necessary to be developed, especially for substance material and its changes, due to the limited ownership of textbooks in schools and the support of students who are used to accessing the internet. 2) Consist of 74.5% of students are not familiar with the Book Creator-Assisted E-module, 60% of students have difficulty answering critical thinking skills and 89.1% of teachers and students need to develop e-modules assisted by Book Creator to improve critical thinking skills.
