Abstract

Social studies education plays an important role, but until now more emphasis has been placed on the knowledge dimension in social studies learning and less attention has been paid to the dimension of thinking abilities. Therefore, when learning with a new paradigm, we can begin to dig deeper into the dimensions of thinking skills with a student-centered learning skills approach. Through a student-centered inquiry learning approach, social studies is a way to increase knowledge and skills related to community life and the environment. Therefore, the Merdeka Curriculum expects innovation in learning, one of which is the use of innovative Teaching Modules as an effort to achieve the Pancasila Student Profile. In addition, the Independent Curriculum allows teachers and students to create quality learning that suits students’ needs and learning environment. This study aims to reveal the social knowledge management approach used as a basis for planning learning to achieve the Pancasila Student Profile in the independent curriculum in Junior High Schools (SMP). We carried out an FGD with social studies teachers in Banda Aceh City to discuss the social knowledge management approach that plays a role in achieving the Pancasila Student Profile. Data from the FGD was analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The results of this study show that the social knowledge management approach is important to use in social studies learning planning so that it has an impact on innovative learning and improves students’ critical thinking. Thus, it is important to carry out further studies in the use of the social knowledge management approach to plan social studies learning in the Merdeka curriculum.
