- Abstract
Pregnancy represents a pivotal stage in a woman’s life, profoundly influencing maternal and fetal well-being. The experiences of pregnant women in receiving midwifery care critically shape their perceptions of healthcare quality. Respectful Midwifery Care (RMC), a care approach prioritizing women’s rights to information, autonomous decision-making, privacy, and safe, high-quality services, forms the foundation of equitable maternal healthcare. This qualitative study, employing a phenomenological design, explores pregnant women’s experiences of midwifery care aligned with RMC principles at Puskesmas Ciracas. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews with 10 purposively sampled participants who had accessed midwifery services. Findings reveal that while most women reported feeling respected and supported during care, persistent gaps existed in the provision of comprehensive information and effective communication between providers and patients. The study highlights the necessity for consistent integration of RMC principles into clinical practice. These insights can guide efforts to improve maternal and child healthcare quality, ensuring services align with the rights and needs of pregnant women.
