Abstract

This study aims to develop, validate, test the practicality, and analyze the effectiveness of an Augmented Reality (AR)-integrated STEM learning strategy to improve the Global Competence of secondary school students in North Sumatra Province. The strategy developed is called the “INNOVATIVE” model through a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model stages. Expert validation results indicate that the AR-based e-book product is categorized as Very Valid (86%), and field trial results indicate a Very Practical category (average 88%). The effectiveness test used a Quasi-Experimental design by comparing the experimental group (STEM-AR) and the control group (conventional) showed significant differences. The experimental group achieved an N-Gain Score = 0.67$ (Medium Category, very close to High), while the control group only achieved = 0.29 (Low Category). The conclusion shows that the AR-Based STEM Learning Strategy is proven to be effective and significantly superior in facilitating the improvement of students’ Global Competence, particularly in improving understanding of abstract concepts and mathematical spatial abilities.
