- Abstract
The article titled “Aesthetic Perception of Nature as the Foundation of Environmental Education” explores the relationship between Nature and Humans throughout history, addressing the issues of Humanity’s material and spiritual dependence on Nature, as well as the gradual complexity of these relationships and the various approaches to Nature. It is noted that the interest in Nature, which has always been at the center of Human attention, was initially focused primarily on the preservation of the physical existence of living beings. Over time, however, the Aesthetic Factor has also come to the forefront.
Despite the fact that the term “Ecology” emerged only in the 19th century, the article emphasizes that the Relationship between Humans and Nature has existed since ancient times, which allows this issue to be examined from a Historical Perspective. It highlights the primary utilitarian connection between early Humans and Nature, free from Ecological Isses, the partial reflection of instances of interference with Nature in the literary works of the Ancient World, and the concept of the Unity of Humans and the Cosmos in ancient thinking. The article also mentions that in the early stages of Ancient Philosophy, Nature was viewed through the four basic elements (Fire, Water, Earth, Air), which form the foundation of modern ecological problems. Special attention is given to the fact that these issues were even reflected at the COP29 Conference held in November 2024 in Baku.
The article also emphasizes the special role of Art, as a product of Creative Thinking, in the Aesthetic and Environmental Education of people. In this regard, examples are given of the use of themes such as “Natural Beauty,” “Nature Conservation,” and others in the literary and philosophical works of Antiquity. The article examines Practical, Ecological, Intellectual, Theoretical, and Aesthetic approaches to Nature, reflected in the works of thinkers and artists from different eras.
