Abstract

The evolution of industrial and post-industrial societies, alongside advancements in digital realms and technology, has paradoxically enhanced human autonomy from Nature while simultaneously rendering individuals more susceptible to the constructs of their own making—what can be termed as a second nature, or Culture. The unprecedented magnitude of the Ecological Crisis has brought to light the significance of traditional Societal Heritage. This article delves into the importance of Folk Ecological Culture within the traditional calendar festivities of Azerbaijan. This rich cultural tapestry represents the wisdom of generations, meticulously woven over millennia. A profound respect for the Natural World is cultivated through oral traditions and folklore. Azerbaijani folklore, renowned for its Artistic Depth, Wisdom, and Authenticity, has fostered a sustainable vision of the harmonious interplay between Humanity, Nature, and Culture, thereby enhancing Emotional Intelligence. The resurgence of interest in folk ecological values is a response to the challenges posed by the relentless exploitation of the Noosphere, Sociosphere, and Ecosphere. The author highlights that Folk Ecological Culture is most vividly manifested during calendar celebrations. The article systematically explores the philosophy behind significant holidays such as Kovsadj, Big Chilla, Sedde, Small Chilla, Khydyr Nabi, Chershenbe, and Novruz Bayram. Drawing from extensive research, personal insights, and factual evidence, the author elucidates the key rituals associated with these occasions. The artistic appreciation of traditional Ecological Culture inspires a mindful approach to Nature.
