- Abstract
Secondary education’s use of educational technology (EdTech) has significantly influenced the teaching and learning environment, particularly in business, economics, and enterprise (BEE) education. This paper examines EdTech’s rapid growth, theoretical foundations, and practical applications in secondary BEE education. The constructivist and experiential learning theories demonstrate the potential of EdTech to promote student-centred knowledge and the development of functional skills. This paper also examines how local initiatives like Singapore’s Smart Nation and Finland’s phenomenon-based learning strategies have successfully incorporated EdTech into their educational systems by observing research and reports from Singapore and Finland. Despite its advantages, there are some limitations such as infrastructure constraints, gaps in teacher training, and resistance to change that impede broader implementations of EdTech in BEE education. Finally, the paper advises politicians, scientists, and EdTech developers to overcome these obstacles and make the most of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and virtual reality to enhance learning outcomes.
