Abstract

The critical mission of nurturing advanced maritime professionals is shouldered by maritime graduate education. Interdisciplinary integration is now seen as an essential approach to cultivating intelligent shipping talent, driven by the evolution of shipping technologies and ongoing industrial transformations. For the age of intelligent shipping, the cultivation of graduate-level talent is confronted with the twin challenges of requiring both innovation and reform alongside transformation and development. In response to the trend towards intelligence in the shipping industry, efforts are made to cultivate high-caliber interdisciplinary maritime professionals. Systematic research on the mechanisms for nurturing an interdisciplinary postgraduate mentor team adapted to the era of intelligent shipping is undertaken, focusing on three aspects: models of research collaboration, professional team configurations, and team echelon development. Facilitated by computer technology, a mentor database gets established, and a high-caliber team of graduate mentors is built. This provides critical support for the comprehensive improvement of maritime graduate education quality and serves the national strategies aimed at strengthening the ocean, transportation, and shipping sectors.
