- Abstract
The Like illiteracy, e-illiteracy has become a determining factor in social exclusion. Through the creation of virtual educational campuses, universities have popularized the notion of distance learning, giving rise to a real shift in pedagogical practices from teaching to learning. This study also aims to propose recommended global management practices for the administrative, pedagogical and technical implementation of distance learning. In the light of shared and evaluative experiences with distance learning, it appears that promoting and favoring techno-pedagogical distance working methods are key to creating a sense of belonging, encouraging motivation, alleviating constraints and fostering learner retention. In this introductory article on distance learning, our intention is to provide an insight into the distance learning movement in its historical and cultural perspective on the one hand, and the use of various enhanced pedagogical practices as a means of developing imposed autonomy on the other. Two questions need to be asked: What are the key phases in distance learning to achieve conceptual relevance online? How the techno-pedagogical practices do develop counter dropout and support perseverance?
