- Abstract
This paper aims to explore the role of clan governance in new rural areas within the process of modernizing rural governance, focusing particularly on the practices and reflections of clan governance models in Zhuang villages. By employing a combination of literature analysis and case studies, the research systematically examines the impact of clan governance on rural self-governance, rule of virtue, and rule of law, and proposes pathways for modernization. The study reveals that Zhuang clan governance has significant dual effects. On the positive side, it enhances group cohesion, maintains rural stability, and promotes the transmission of rural culture. However, excessive emphasis on clan authority may lead to governance disorder and inequitable resource distribution. In the context of new rural construction, it is essential to strengthen the leadership of grassroots Party organizations, advance the modernization of clan concepts, and enable clan governance to empower the integration of self-governance, virtue-based governance, and rule of law, thereby providing practical references for rural revitalization.
