- Abstract
This study aims to deeply explore, through eye - tracking devices, the influence of musical ability on English intonation perception among Chinese native learners with different English proficiency levels. With the acceleration of globalization, English learning has been increasingly emphasized in China. As an important part of English pronunciation, intonation plays a non - negligible role in accurate language understanding and communication. There are potential connections between musical ability and language ability. This study hypothesizes that musical ability may affect learners’ perception of English intonation. By conducting eye - tracking experiments on Chinese learners with different English levels, collecting eye - movement data such as fixation points, fixation duration, and saccade amplitude, and combining questionnaire surveys and oral tests, this study comprehensively analyzes the relationship between musical ability and English intonation perception. The research results are helpful for in - depth understanding of individual difference factors in language learning and provide new ideas and methods for English teaching, such as integrating musical elements into teaching or conducting personalized teaching for students with different musical abilities.
