Abstract

In recent years, rapid advances in information technology and accelerated global digital transformation have driven widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital media technologies, making them critical drivers of innovation and change across industries. The creative industries are being reshaped by digital and intelligent technologies, requiring a new balance between cultural impact and economic development. This paper explores how AI-empowered digital media are reshaping the cultural-economic landscape of creative industries, focusing on AI applications in processes such as cultural heritage preservation, digital art creation, and intelligent marketing. Employing a case study approach centered on Xi’an, a city known for its rich historical and cultural heritage and its vibrant technological innovation, this study analyzes the city’s achievements and distinctive path in digital transformation. The results indicate that AI and digital media have enabled Xi’an to advance in heritage preservation, digital art, and smart marketing, thus shaping a distinctive culture-technology integration model. The digital shift in creative industries is fueling cultural and economic growth, backed by tech and policy support.
