Abstract

Remarkable progress has been achieved in China’s eco-friendly automotive industry, establishing itself as a dominant force in the global automotive landscape. This expansion has been significantly propelled by a series of government subsidy policies implemented over the years. This report aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of China’s NEV subsidy policies specifically between 2020 and 2025, and to examine the multifaceted impact of these policies on both domestic and international NEV manufacturers operating within the country. The analysis will delve into the specifics of the subsidies offered during this period, the strategic objectives behind their implementation, the adjustments and changes that occurred, and the resultant effects on the growth, profitability, and innovation of NEV manufacturers. Understanding these policy dynamics is crucial for stakeholders, particularly in light of evolving global competition and increasing trade tensions. From a macro perspective, the practice and adjustment of NEV subsidy policy in China provides an important policy sample for the development of global new energy automobile industry.
