- Abstract
Flipped classroom is a product of the development of information technology. Under the flipped classroom mode, students watch micro-teaching videos and learn other teaching materials before class, then engage in discussion, communication and in-depth inquiry in the classroom, and reflect what they have learned and further improve their learning abilities after class. As an important course for English majors in China, “A Brief History and Selected Readings of American Literature” attempts to adopt the flipped classroom mode for teaching under the condition of unchanged course contents but reduced class periods, which has greater flexibility and superiority compared to traditional teaching methods in enhancing students’ interest in learning, strengthening their autonomous learning ability, and shaping their higher-order thinking skills. It has certain reference value and significance for the research and practical exploration of Anglo-American literature courses’ teaching reform in colleges and universities.
