Abstract

Sustainability is important for several reasons, encompassing environmental, social, and economic dimensions. It is essential for ensuring a harmonious balance between environmental health, social equity, and economic prosperity. It is a holistic approach that addresses the interconnected challenges, aiming to create a more resilient and equitable future. Embracing sustainability practices helps organizations comply with environmental and social regulations, reducing the risk of legal and reputational issues. In this paper, the drivers of sustainability development in automotive sector are identified - Resource Availability, Sustainable Product, Enhanced Technologies, Information and Data Transmission, Multi-echelon Player Partnership, Management Adherence and Comprehensive Society. Using Analytical Hierarchical Processing, these drivers are assigned priority weights and five automobile manufacturing organizations are ranked based their practices towards sustainability in alignment to these drivers. Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution and Multi-Objective Optimization on the basis of Ratio Analysis are used and the organizations are evaluated and ranked. Rankings allow the automotive organizations to benchmark their performance against their peers. By comparing their position in the industry, organizations can identify areas where they excel and areas where improvement is needed.
