- Abstract
This paper describes the fabrication of an easily accessible and deployable indoor positioning system (IPS) using Bluetooth Low Energy technology. The indoor localisation system developed offers an open-source and cost-effective alternative to existing commercial systems, which are limited in nature. The study discusses the test bed of hardware and software implementation, theoretical background and benchmarking. Testing equipment in a 15m corridor featuring eight BLE beacons demonstrates sub-meter accuracy. As a result, the IPS gives developers a useful mechanism to add location awareness to IoT applications.
