Abstract

This study examines the accountability and responsiveness of the Jeneponto Regency Government in implementing the SDGs program from 2018 to 2023. Accountability and responsiveness are key variables in assessing the success of sustainable development. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, this research analyzes data from various villages based on SDGs index reports issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The findings reveal that economic growth in Jeneponto Regency has been inconsistent, with a significant decline in 2020. The study identifies that accountability and responsiveness indicators remain suboptimal, with several accountability indicators achieving below 60%. Based on SDGs performance data, only 35.9% of indicators met targets, while 34.1% were implemented but failed to reach the desired outcomes. Additionally, 17.7% of indicators were not implemented, and 12.3% lacked sufficient data. Factors such as weak political will, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and socio-cultural constraints hinder SDGs program effectiveness. Despite increased community participation in decision-making, local government responsiveness remains inadequate. This research underscores the need for stronger political commitment, improved governance, and enhanced human resource capacity to optimize SDGs achievements in Jeneponto Regency. Strengthening accountability and responsiveness is crucial for improving regional development and ensuring equitable public service delivery.
