Abstract

This study examines the adoption of the Farm-to-Table (F2T) model as a strategic synergy between agriculture and tourism in Bali. Utilizing a qualitative case study approach, the research explores perceptions, opportunities, and implementation barriers among local farmers, tourism operators, and policymakers in Ubud and Bedugul. Grounded in Strategic Alliance Theory and the Agriculture-Gastronomy-Tourism (AGT) Synergy Framework, findings highlight the transformative potential of F2T in improving food sustainability, enhancing rural livelihoods, and enriching tourist experiences through local gastronomy. The study reveals that while demand for local, sustainable food is rising, structural challenges (including fragmented policies, inconsistent supply chains, and limited capacity among smallholder farmers) hinder widespread adoption. Despite these obstacles, stakeholders demonstrated strong interest in formalizing partnerships through cooperative platforms and integrated support systems. The F2T model is thus framed not only as a food distribution innovation but also as a socio-economic strategy that fosters cross-sector collaboration. Recommendations include targeted policy alignment, supply chain infrastructure investment, and stakeholder education to accelerate F2T integration in Bali’s tourism economy. This research offers practical insights for designing context-sensitive F2T initiatives in other developing regions seeking to bridge agriculture and tourism through sustainable innovation.
