- Abstract
This study conducts experiments simulating different lead times (with delivery probabilities of 80% and 98%) and profit conditions (high and low) to explore their impact on newsvendors’ ordering decisions and demand chasing behavior. By collecting and analyzing relevant data, we fit the demand coefficient. The results show that when considering lead time alone under different delivery probabilities, the decision-maker’s behavior exhibits no significant demand chasing. However, profit conditions have a significant impact on demand chasing behavior. Specifically, an interaction exists between delivery probability and profit conditions. Under high-delivery - probability scenarios, the difference in demand chasing behavior between high - profit and low-profit conditions is more pronounced. In low - profit situations, the average demand-chasing coefficient is higher, and individual differences are more significant. This research provides theoretical support for enterprises to deal with lead - time and profit changes, which is conducive to optimizing ordering decisions and inventory management, and enhancing decision - making capabilities.
