Abstract

Lepar Subdistrict in South Bangka Regency possesses abundant fisheries potential, yet fishermen’s productivity remains low compared to other regions. This study aims to analyze the influence of local government support specifically training and facilities on fishermen’s productivity, with work motivation as an intervening variable. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey of 100 fishermen selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method via SmartPLS 3 software. The results show that both training and facilities have a positive and significant effect on fishermen’s productivity, directly and indirectly through work motivation. Moreover, work motivation exerts the strongest influence, indicating its crucial role in mediating the relationship between government support and productivity. The coefficient of determination (R2) value of 0.758 demonstrates that the model has strong predictive capability. These findings highlight the importance of continuous government programs in training and infrastructure improvement to enhance fishermen’s skills, motivation, and overall productivity in coastal communities.
