- Abstract
The objective of this research was to examine the population structure and production of Kacang goat. The research was conducted in Mliwang sub-district, Tuban district, East Jawa province. The research material was 117 head of Kacang goat. The research method used was survey method. Location determination is based on purposive sampling with an accidental sampling technique. Data analysis using descriptive analysis to describe the population structure (kid, young and adult) and technical parameters of natural increase (percentage of birth and mortality) and kid crop. The population structure of Kacang goats in smallholder farming systems shows a dominance of females (71.79%) compared to males (28.21%). The highest proportion is found in the kid group (48.72%), followed by adults (39.32%) and young goats (11.97%). The Natural Increase was 48,72% with Kid Crop was 164,40%. The results showed that the population structure and reproductive performance of Kacang goats underscore their suitability for traditional farming systems. With a high kid crop, low mortality, and a sustainable female-dominated population, Kacang goats outperform many other breeds under similar management conditions.
