- Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the influence of turmeric rhizome extract nanoemulsion Curcuma domestica Val on the reduction of C Reactive Protein CRP and Myeloperoxidase MPO levels in Wistar rats with diabetes mellitus. The results of the study showed that GC MS analysis of turmeric compounds included several bioactive chemicals with health benefits. The major compounds identified were curcumin thirty percent, demethoxycurcumin fifteen point three percent, bisdemethoxycurcumin eight point two percent, turmerone five point seven percent, zingiberene forty one percent, beta turmerone two point eight percent, and volatile compounds thirty three point four percent. The treatment group given a nanoemulsion of turmeric rhizome extract at a dose of two hundred milligrams per kilogram body weight showed the most optimal results, with a significant decrease in CRP and MPO levels, approaching the values of the control group. Histopathological examination of the pancreas indicated that the group receiving a dose of two hundred eighty milligrams per kilogram body weight displayed minimal tissue damage, with less than twenty five percent necrotic cells and fewer than ten inflammatory cells in the pancreatic interstitial space. Both biomarkers confirmed the positive anti inflammatory effect of turmeric extract. The conclusion of this study is that turmeric rhizome extract nanoemulsion is effective in reducing CRP and MPO levels.
