- Abstract
The aim of this study is to quantify the changes in riverbed elevation due to sedimentation in the Palu River and to assess the depth of scouring at the bridge pier of the Palu IV Bridge using simulation methods with the HEC-RAS (Hydrologic Engineering Center-River Analysis System) software. The required data includes sediment data, river topography, and average discharge data. Based on simulation results over a 23 month period using average discharge from 2002 to 2007 (Q = 83,569 m3/s at the upstream boundary and a riverbed slope of 0.00082 at the downstream boundary), the sediment transport analysis revealed that 17 out of 41 river stations experienced aggradation. The highest aggradation occurred at river station 0.4 with a value of +0.37260 m. Additionally, 21 out of 41 river stations experienced degradation, with the highest degradation observed at river station 9 with a value of -0.09394 m. The average aggradation and degradation values of 3.86 cm and 3.55 cm. Based on the Meyer Peter Muller transport function, the average scour depth at the piers of the Palu IV Bridge was -2.80 m.
