- Abstract
This paper investigates the mechanical properties of gypsum composite reinforced with rice husk fiber. The composite consists of gypsum as matrix and rice husk fiber (RHF) as reinforcement. The mechanical properties of composite including flexural and compressive strength were investigated with variation of rice husk fiber volume fraction. The variations of rice husk fiber volume fraction are 10%, 20%, and 30%. The gypsum composite samples were tested by bending and compression tests. Then, the fracture of flexural test was analyzed by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM). The result shows that the flexural strength of composite decreases as the volume fraction of rice husk fiber increases. Also, the compression strength decreases with rise in the volume fraction.
