- Abstract
This article examines the essence and mechanism of gender mainstreaming policy in the national police (Polri) as mandated by National Police Chief Regulation No. 1 of 2022. This regulation insists on gender analysis methods to encourage the realization of gender justice and equality. However, the gender gap is acknowledged as still the main problem in the development of professionalism and police accountability. Female police officers tend to be in marginal positions for various reasons. Data collection is carried out through a literature study and interviews with the Regional Police Human Resources Bureau and Coordinator of Policewomen in Aceh Regional Police. However, this is not an easy challenge to embed the gender mainstreaming policy into planning and budgeting according to responsive gender towards a great vision of Polri, abbreviated with “Presisi” (predictive, responsible, transparent and fair). Therefore, how gender mainstreaming policy correlates and contributes to realizing the Police transformation agenda of such a vision is an interesting study that will be approached and elaborated in this article.
