Abstract

This research aims to analyze the efforts made by schools in implementing multicultural education in the city of Medan. This research uses qualitative research methods. The reason for using this method is because this research wants to understand in more depth the efforts made by schools in implementing multicultural education. This research took place in the city of Medan with the consideration that the condition of the multicultural society of the city of Medan is the uniqueness and local advantage of the city of Medan, apart from that because the city of Medan is a miniature multicultural society in Indonesia, and also in order to realize the goals and mandates contained in the Law. - Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System (Sisdiknas). The results of this research are the discovery of various efforts made by schools to implement multicultural education. The conclusion of this research is that the school’s efforts to implement multicultural education are carried out in ways such as classroom learning and school activity programs outside of learning.
