Welcome to the Proceedings of the International Moving Image Cultures Conference (IMOVICCON 2025). IMOVICCON 2025 addresses the evolving condition of visual culture through its theme, “The Cultural Shift from Moving Image to Image Moving.” This theme reflects a critical transformation in how images operate within contemporary digital environments. No longer confined to the screen as linear, time-based representations, moving images now circulate dynamically across platforms, networks, and everyday life. In this context, images are not merely viewed but actively shared, reposted, and reinterpreted, functioning as agents that shape identity, memory, and meaning. This shift calls for a reconsideration of established paradigms in moving image studies, particularly in relation to post-cinema aesthetics, digital archives, artificial intelligence, and the broader socio-cultural implications of visual media.
