Abstract

In the critical period of global tourism recovery and digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), as the core driving force of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is profoundly reshaping the innovation and development pattern of the tourism industry. This study uses Cite Space visualization analysis method to systematically sort out the web of science from 1990 to 2025. The global research literature on AI-driven tourism innovation in the database reveals the trend of research publications on the integration of AI and tourism and the evolutionary stages of “germination-exploration-development-steady progress” through keyword clustering, time map and other analysis methods. And analyze its underlying causes and impacts. The study extracts five core themes: tourism destination image, tourism demand forecasting, tourist experience, digital tourism and AI technology application, highlighting the rise of virtual tourism and the humanistic-oriented research and development wave catalyzed by the COVID-19 epidemic and the tide of the times. At the same time, AI shows subversive potential in improving service quality, promoting digital transformation and promoting sustainable development, and the research focus has shifted from technology application to improving tourist behavior and satisfaction. The study also summarizes the unique advantages of AI technology in the development of the tourism industry and proposes future development directions, filling the gap in systematic review and providing face-saving theoretical and practical guidance for the high-quality development of AI-powered tourism.
