- Abstract
As the earliest environment of child development, the family plays a vital role in shaping cognitive, emotional, and social abilities in early childhood. Based on a survey of 300 families with preschool-aged children, this study explores the role and pathways of parental involvement from three perspectives: type, intensity, and mechanism. The results show that most families engage in basic support behaviors but rarely participate in educational decision-making. Three specific forms of involvement—reading, communication with schools, and emotional responsiveness—are significantly positively correlated with children’s language ability, social skills, and emotional stability, respectively. A structural equation model further reveals that educational resource investment indirectly fosters overall development through enhanced learning motivation. The study highlights the need to shift parental involvement from formal participation to more structured, emotional, and collaborative engagement, offering practical insights for improving family-school partnerships and early childhood education policy.
