Abstract

As the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) grows in this digital era, STEM education in higher education is becoming increasingly crucial. This study aims to develop a STEM textbook integrated with Project-Based Learning (PBL) based on the perspective of prospective mathematics teachers. The method used was preliminary research, the defining stage of Thiagarajan’s 4D development model. Data were collected through a questionnaire with 96 prospective mathematics teachers. The results showed that prospective mathematics teachers positively perceive PBL and see it as an effective teaching strategy to increase student engagement, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving skills in STEM education books. This research makes an important contribution to the development of innovative and effective STEM teaching materials. STEM textbooks integrated with PBL are expected to assist prospective mathematics teachers in implementing PBL in their classrooms and improve the quality of STEM education in Indonesia.
