Abstract

Mathematics is one of the important subjects in the development of various disciplines and professions. However, many students have difficulty in understanding mathematics material, especially geometry, which has an impact on their low learning activities and results. Learning has also not accommodated the learning needs of all students in the classroom, including the use of technology that is still lacking. This research aims to develop, distinguish, find, build, discover the properties (BeCaBaTu) multimedia learning media to increase student involvement in learning the concept of building space for 4th grade elementary school. The method used is research and development (R&D) which includes stages: preliminary study to identify students’ learning needs, learning planning and determination of product specifications, product development and validation by experts, and dissemination of developed products. The results of expert validation and classroom implementation show that BeCaBaTu media meets the eligibility criteria for use in learning, with an increase in student activity reaching the excellent category with a score of 81%. In addition, 55% of students were able to produce spatial products in accordance with the criteria without assistance, while 45% of students still needed assistance in this process. The use of BeCaBaTu, that combines concrete objects and interactive technology, can improve students’ activities and understanding of geometry concepts. This study recommends further development to test the effectiveness of BeCaBaTu on more complex geometry materials or for different age groups to expand the benefits of this media.
