Abstract

Mental health in adolescents needs special attention. Mental health disorders or depression are mental problems that are prone to occur in adolescent. Data in Indonesia shows that 6.1% of the Indonesian population aged 15 years and over experiences mental health problems. Islamic boarding schools are private educational institutions that are very independent to educate students to become the next generation with Islamic identity and noble morals. Adolescents who live under institutional care often suffer from developmental and behavioral problems due to a lack of family care and support. The aim of this research is to determine the mental health of adolescents in Islamic boarding schools. The method used was analytical research with a cross-sectional method with a sample size of 153 people. The research results showed that for adolescents aged 17-20 years in Islamic boarding schools, there were 66.7%, while for those aged 19-20 years there were 33.3%. The screening results showed that 13% of adolescents had mental health problems and 87% of those who did not have mental health problems. The conclusion from the research is that most teenagers living in Islamic boarding schools are 17-18 years old and do not experience mental health problems
