Abstract

Adenotonsillectomy is a surgical procedure that is commonly performed in the ENT-KL department, aimed at extirpating adenoids and tonsils. Based on the AAO-HNS (American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery) guideline, indications for tonsillectomy are recurrent acute tonsillitis and OSAS (Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome). Indonesia uses tonsillectomy clinic guidelines based on the 2004 Indonesian Health Technology Assessment (HTA) which has been adapted to AAOHNS. One of the aims of the Tonsillectomy / Adedotonsillectomy (ATE) procedure is to improve the sufferer's quality of life. Based on this background, researchers are interested in conducting research on the quality of life after Adedotonsillectomy at Pantiwilasa Hospital, Semarang. This research method is quantitative research with an analytical observational design, using chi square analysis. Secondary data was obtained from medical records, and primary data from filling out the SF-36 (Short form) questionnaire. This study found that there was a significant relationship between OSAS symptoms and quality of life after ATE. From the results of the multivariate logistic regression test, it was concluded that OSAS symptoms were the dominant factor influencing quality of life after ATE.
