Abstract

Digital Transformation is a driving force behind the innovation and evolution of industries worldwide, including the financial sector. In New Zealand, the financial industry faces unique challenges and opportunities due to its cultural diversity, regulatory landscape, and economic priorities. This research introduces a comprehensive digital transformation framework tailored specifically for New Zealand’s financial industry. By combining insights from global digital transformation models and qualitative research with local stakeholders, the framework integrates organizational, societal, and economic factors with a strong emphasis on cultural values and data sovereignty. The study employs a multi-method qualitative approach, including focus groups and thematic analysis, to explore and validate the framework. The findings highlight critical areas such as customer-centric innovation, regulatory compliance, and inclusivity, proposing actionable strategies for practitioners and policymakers. This paper contributes to the broader understanding of digital transformation in regional contexts and offers a scalable model that aligns with global sustainability goals.
